Free and Confidential Pregnancy Testing
If you’ve recently had sex (protected or unprotected) and your period is late, it may be time to take a pregnancy test. We provide free, medical-grade pregnancy tests to determine whether or not you are pregnant.
There are other reasons for a change in your menstrual cycle besides pregnancy. A hormonal imbalance, stress, rapid weight gain or loss, and excessive exercise could all cause a missed period. Don’t wait. Get tested today.
Common Pregnancy Symptoms
Although a missed period is usually the first sign of pregnancy, other early symptoms exist. The following are the symptoms listed by the Mayo Clinic:
- Tender, swollen breasts
- Nausea with or without vomiting
- Increased urination
- Fatigue
- Moodiness
- Bloating
- Light spotting
- Cramping
- Constipation
- Food aversions
- Nasal congestion
How Does A Pregnancy Test Work?
When a woman gets pregnant, her body produces a hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG). A pregnancy test detects hCG in her urine if she is pregnant.
Studies suggest that up to 5% of pregnancy tests return results indicating a woman is not pregnant when, in reality, she is. Let one of our peer counselors explain the process so you can be confident you are getting the correct results.
When Should I Take A Pregnancy Test?
Every woman’s monthly cycle is different. Some women have cycles that are like clockwork (every 28 to 30 days). Other women have irregular cycles, they never know what to expect. According to the Mayo Clinic, specific home pregnancy tests are more sensitive than others. The most sensitive tests detect the hCG hormone within a week or two after conception.
However, it is recommended you wait for a day or two after your missed period before taking a pregnancy test. The longer you wait, the more accurate your test results will be.
